Whether you're looking for a quick bite or a relaxing meal with friends, The Soup delivers a unique and heartwarming experience.

The moment you step into this small yet welcoming space, you're greeted with the rich aroma of simmering ingredients. It’s a place that takes pride in serving soups made from fresh, high-quality ingredients. The friendly staff quickly makes you feel at home, offering a menu that changes with the seasons to feature the freshest, local produce. The atmosphere is casual and unpretentious, perfect for both a quick lunch or a long, leisurely dinner.

What sets The Soup apart from other eateries in the city is its commitment to quality. Unlike many places that rely on canned or pre-made bases, this diner makes everything from scratch. From classic chicken noodle to more adventurous combinations like roasted butternut squash with a hint of cinnamon, each soup has its own unique character. It’s clear that every bowl is crafted with care, and it shows in the vibrant flavors.

The variety of soups available at The Soup is impressive. If you're in the mood for something rich and creamy, the lobster bisque is a standout-smooth, decadent, and brimming with tender lobster pieces. For something lighter, the tomato basil soup, with its fresh tomato base and fragrant basil, is a great choice. It’s a classic, but one that’s executed to perfection. Many customers come back for their seasonal specials, like the hearty winter stew filled with root vegetables and slow-cooked meats that will warm you up even on the coldest San Francisco days.

Beyond just the soup offerings, The Soup's menu includes some tasty sides and accompaniments. Pair your bowl with a freshly baked baguette or a crisp side salad, both of which complement the main dish beautifully. Their sandwiches are another crowd-pleaser, often featuring hearty ingredients like smoked turkey and avocado, making them the perfect pairing for a light meal.

The Soup has garnered rave reviews for good reason. One satisfied customer shares, "I visit regularly for their rotating soup selections. Each one feels like a new discovery-there’s always something exciting to try." Another praises the restaurant for its warm atmosphere: "It’s my go-to place when I’m feeling under the weather. Their soups are so comforting, and the staff makes you feel like part of the family."

The diner also prides itself on serving a range of options for those with dietary restrictions. Whether you're gluten-free, vegetarian, or looking for something vegan, there are always choices that cater to different dietary needs. It’s this attention to detail that makes The Soup a standout in San Francisco’s vibrant dining scene.

The location itself is easy to find, tucked along 2315 Irving St, making it a great spot for both locals and tourists. The cozy nature of the diner invites you to stay a while, sip your soup, and enjoy the calm atmosphere. It’s not a flashy place, but that’s part of its charm-it's all about the food and the experience.

Overall, The Soup offers more than just a meal; it’s an experience of comfort, flavor, and heartwarming hospitality. Whether you're a regular visitor or a first-time guest, each visit promises a memorable meal. With its unbeatable combination of flavor, fresh ingredients, and warm ambiance, The Soup has earned its place as a must-try spot in San Francisco for soup lovers.

  • Soup was good, steamed rice dish was okay. I recommend the soups! They're flavourful and well made. I wish there were more leafy greens on the menu though. Only one type of veggie in stock it seems. Good option on a cold evening, if you don't want something too heavy but still seek warmth/comfort. No wifi, nice space.

  • This restaurant took over a Chinese dessert place and now they are serving specialty soups and steamer rice in lotus leaves. Every dish is appropriately portioned and priced. The lamb stew pot was the most outstanding dish and the Tong Ho veggie side dish that came with it made it an 8 star dish! The only down side is that their menu selection menu is very limited and that makes going back as a frequent patron a tough sell.

  • Came here on a Tuesday afternoon with no wait with a group of 3. Good: - The food comes out really quickly - The chicken soup was pretty good - I liked the abalone and it was super chewy - it was very hearty too Bad: - I wasn't a big fan of the coconut soup - it was sweet but also savory and it was really weird - also there wasn't a lot of food for the price. - Pretty casual place - Just a little too expensive for the portion size Overall this place was unique, though I might not come again since the food is a little weird.

  • I'm looking for something different for lunch with my uncle in San Francisco. The Soup shows up in my research, which seems like a good idea. I decided to give them a try. I was there at around 11:30 am. 30 minutes after the restaurant opens on a Saturday morning. The restaurant wasn't very busy. We have an excellent table next to the big window in front of the restaurant. The dining room is very clean and comfortable as well. All the soups and foods we ordered are delicious. We love them all. The service is better than most of the Chinese restaurants in the area. We enjoyed our lunch here. I’ll be back soon!

  • First time eating here, got the Hainan chicken rice, the chicken was very flavorful, in addition to the sizzling frog plate and pork belly/chicken with pepper casserole dish, which were flavorful. Staff here were very kind and responsive and the restaurant was very clean, overall I would recommend giving this place a try!
